An article in the Evening Capital (June 7, 1955) describes the event: "The next contest was based upon an exercise in Ptolemaic astronomy. It involved couples in which the girl moved on the deferent circle holding a rope while the boy made like an epicycle, moving around her. Six complete turns of the epicycle were required in one circle around the deferent. Several contestants were disqualified for slackening the rope too much. Marshal Del Plain and Bill Martin won in 34.5 seconds."
