An article in the Evening Capital (June 7, 1955) describes the race: "A major event was the Yahoo race--a sort of chariot race set up in relays. Children's wagons were substituted for chariots, with students serving as both drivers and horses. Easy victors were the sophomores with skilled driving supplied by Bert Siemans, and power supplied by Jack Radowsky, Gerry Wilson, Jim McDonald and Bill Martin. Excitement was provided by numerous spills. The seniors lost their chance when Priscilla Husted's charge pulled her wagon from under her at the starting line."
