Easton 27th January 1796
My Dear Leeds
I have wrote you twice since I have had
any of yours. the first was sent by the packet to Balto.
and delivered to Capt. Barber by Thomas. it contained
the orders on the Treasury which I hope you recd.
safe if not you ought to go to the [Treasurer] &
stop the payment of them. they are agreeable to
the [?] [?] of [?] [?] to stop the person
Offering them. they are all made payable to you
and without a forgery they will not be paid.
The last was by Capt. Bond inclosing
a letter for Mr Woodward who was [security] for
Watkins. desiring he would pay you £100 --
I saw his son on the [road] the other day. and desired
he would tell you we were all well, you
will [send] the letter, + write to him yourself
to bring [you] the money. you will also call
on Mitchell and tell him to get the Rent ready
by the first of March at [farthest]. as I cannot
do without it In short I know not what
to do for money. If [these sums] are not received
[with Mullikens + Allicks hire] -- I hope you have
recd. and settled with Mr Clements + [Neth]. when I
hear from you that you have recd. any
money. I will give an order on you for it.
I wish if possible to avoid going over the [1st Mar]
but if Mitchell does not pay I shall be obliged to
[distrain] again -- I long to hear from you --
Capt Bond has not yet returned I suppose you
wrote by him -- but you must let us hear from
you by [post] if no other [Oppo.] we cannot
be without hearing from you so long. and let
us hear a detail of every thing [passing] -- there is
no news here -- except for the death of poor Mr [Sharp]
last Friday -- Capt [Tripp?] is not expected to live
many [days]. -- let us know if you ever heard [what]
became of the letter you gave Mr Martin for Sophia
pray was it directed to her? -- you ought always
to inclose her letters to me to prevent Curiousity
If you receive any letters which you think I wish
to see inclose them by some safe [Oppo.y]
Tell Robt. G. his Parents are well I was
there last week -- give our Compliments to all who
asks for us -- all [Join] [in] Love to you [+ I am]
