Audio recording of a lecture given by Jillian Conrad on September 11, 2026 as part of the Dean’s Lecture & Concert Series. The Dean’s Office has provided this description of the event: “When is a threshold just an in-between space, and when is it the whole point? A threshold is at once a place, a metaphor, a structure given to use by language. It marks the space between one thing and another. Drawing on notes from the artist’s studio, this talk asks what changes when a threshold is worked from different directions, in different sculptural materials, across different artworks.”
