Your letter, dear sister, I was delighted to recieve
and thank you a thousand times for enclosing the
letter from dear father to you. it comforted me and
I hope improved me much, though sometimes I feel
hopeless of ever meeting father in heaven, yet the
hope I have at times, and the comfortable assurance
that our Savior has given us "my grace is sufficient
for thee," is to me the greatest consolation. For
without his grace I know and feel that the temptations
that surround me will overcome me, but
I try to place all my trust in him, to ask him
to give me his holy spirit, and strength to follow its
promptings. It is a great power of comfort to me that
dear father, before he died, knew that I intended devoting
myself to God, and I have two most beautiful
letters, which I prize more than I can tell you, from
him on that subject. I will show you them
when we meet. and now I have I know something
to tell you which will give you great pleasure.
Mr. Howard came from Baltimore yesterda Saturday
and brought me a letter from Ellen, in which
she tells me she is going to be confirmed and
wants me to come and be confirmed with her.
I will do it most gladly and I hope with more
devotion and thankfulness give myself to God for
this great blessing and mercy to me. The Bishop
was sick and did not come this sunday I told
you he was expected, and now I am going to
be confirmed with Ellen. I know dear sister
this will give you the greatest pleasure. oh
pray that God may keep us his through all
the trials dangers and temptations of the world
and at last bring us all to meet with father
and each other in Heaven. - it is so dark
I can hardly see, and my eyes hurt me
and I must stop. - I send you back the letter
as Mother thinks in Ellens weak state
it might agitate her too much to see it, and
I am afraid to keep it till she can, for fear
as we are moving about so much it might get
lost. - Ellen is better, her chills are not so
violent. - Mother joins me in best love to
Mr. Turner and the children and believe me
ever your fond sister
