The Dean's Office has provided this description of the event: "How do we respond to a photograph as a work of art rather than as visual document? How do photographs move us aesthetically? How can we learn to look at photographs—learn to see what they have to show us and to think about what they might conceal? This panel will consider some of the historic, aesthetic, philosophic and cultural implications of photography in contemporary society. Three tutors will offer three diferent ways of thinking about these and related questions, while refecting more broadly on the status of photography, the visual arts, and aesthetic education as part of the St. John’s Program. "
